Orlu — People of Njaba local government area in Orlu geo-political zone of Imo State have cried out to the State Government over the collapsing state of the Owerri - Orlu road ,saying that it is a death trap to motorists and inhabitants of the area.

Our correspondent who visited the road also confirmed the afore-stated as the road has almost broken into two owning to erosion .

The road which is collapsing into the popular Njaba River with residential buildings around, was said to have started from the gully, which was there hitherto.

To eschew accidents at the site, the people on daily basis go into the bush full of cashew trees to cut the branches of the tree and place them on the road, notifying people that the spot is bad.

It is being said that the spot will cause many deaths, especially during the yuletide as many who will ply the road are not well conversant with it. "Any motorist that runs into that spot will simply bury himself or herself," an indigene said.

As at the press time, the transition committee chairman of Njaba LG council, Hon. Chidi Arimnuta, who was called on phone several times to state the position of the LG council, did not pick his call.

It is important to note that the road in question is a major road linking many LGAs in the state.
