Gambia: CRR Schools Boosted

Banjul — The Association of Gambians Living in America, in partnership with Farmers Inter Trade Association (FITA), on Sunday, donated educational materials to Nyanga Bantang and Panchang Basic Cycle School, at a presentation ceremony held at the school ground in Central River Region.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Musa Jawneh, the President of FITA, said that the donated materials are for schools that are affected by floods. He noted that the purposed of donating these materials is to help parents and to create a conducive learning environment for the children. He called on the principals of the two schools to share the materials equitably among the students.

He further gave a brief history of his association and said that FITA is an organization established by producers to enable them to sell their products. For his part, Andrew Gomez, the Senior Secondary Education officer of the region, hailed the donors for their benevolent gesture. Noting, the donated items will not only complement the efforts of government but will also contribute immensely in achieving quality education in the region. According to him, government cannot do everything alone and called on organisations and philanthropists living in American to emulate the donors.

Saloum Malick Mbaye, the chief of Upper Saloum commended the donors for the wonderful gesture. The principals of both schools Co- chaired the ceremony.
