Banjul — The community of Ndowen village in Niani, Central River Region (CRR) North, have appealed to government to help them have asses to a clean drinking water, as the village is now facing water stortage.
The villagers made this appeal during a visit made by the District chief, Pierre Bah recently. According to Hamad Ndow, the Alkalo of the village, due to scarcity of water in the village, the villages spend most of their time at the well and sometimes the well dried up, which, he said become very difficult for them to fetch water. For his part, Bai Guneh Ndow, revealed that the villagers sometimes fetched water from a neighbouring village in Senegal. According to him, they used their donkey and horse carts to transport the water. Â"The only well that we have is not covered and is always muddy,Â" he disclosed.
Pierre Bah, the district chief, appealed to the Government and philanthropists to help the community with the clean and safe drinking water. He noted that the village is a large village with many small and large ruminants. Â"If the village is provided with clean drinking water, it will enhance the use of water for both domestic and agricultural purposes as well as Labor saving for women,Â" he concluded.
