Banjul — Captain Ebrima Bojang has joined his coach to apologise to the fans for their poor performance at the U-17 World Cup as he believed their chances of making the knockouts are over, Gambia Sports reports.

But nonetheless, the soft spoken skipper said they should try to win their final game against the Colombians on Saturday in order to save their blushes and spare themselves from an embarrassment. "We came here and played two games and unfortunately we lost both. Our intensions were to come here [in Nigeria] to win but this is how God has decided it so we are very sorry to the fans and let them accept it in good faith.

"This team hasnÂ't been together for a long time I can say we build the team for only three months and that contributes to the factors that make us lose both out matches. "I donÂ't think we can qualify for the next stage anymore all we need to do is to try and win our last game against Colombia to that we can return to the Gambia with at least three points to show off".
