The search for Miss Rwanda has started with preliminaries kicking off in eastern provinces. The beauty contest which kicked off two weeks ago at St Agnes Hall in Rwamagana (eastern) attracted 16 beauties but only four qualifies for the national event. These four will join the rest from other provinces, for one month residential training in a place yet to be named the national event slated for 19 December.
Sharon Bamukunde, Marie Louise Mukazana, Geraldine Umutoni Kayizarwe and Winney Uwineza were ladies who impressed the panel of judges assembled by ministry of culture and Rwandatel.
The judges include Eminante Mugabushaka from the media, Dady de Maximo a fashion designer and Jolie Murenzi, a lady who handled Miss Belgium were looking for from the contestants.
Rwandatel is the main sponsor of the event that has been in Limbo for 17 years.
The revival of Miss Rwanda crown has caused some excitement in Rwandans with hundreds registering for the event.
"They are eloquent, not shy, speak both English and Kinyarwanda and informed," Cleophas Kabasiita, Rwandatel Communications Manager described the contestants from the East.
The panel of judges will traverse other provinces including northern bordering Uganda, western bordering DRC, southern near Burundi and Kigali City hunting for beauties.
