Kigali — THIS year's play-off final will be a contest of egos when APR takes on Espoir in a best of three series.
While APR marched into the final on the back of a 94-52 victory over Cercle Sportif (CSK), ESPOIR had Marines to thank for default points.
Marines, who won the league in 2007, wasted their only opportunity of silverware this season when they failed to show up for Saturday's fixture, prompting the national basketball federation (Ferwaba) to award Espoir default points.
On paper, Marine had been tipped to overrun Espoir following their superior head to head contest in the regular league. The Rubavu-based side had posted back to back wins over Espoir; 80-66 and 81-65.
Ferwafa has for the first time decided to award both the league champion as well as play off winners separately.
