Kampala — Three second half Victors penalties at Namboole condemned SC Villa to their first loss of the season while, at Nakivubo, Caesar Sapeo's lone goal against Nalubaale moved KCC to second place on 11 points last evening.
Isaac Isinde scored in the 68th minute, Edgar Luzige on 74 and 86 minutes to hand the sixteen-time champions a 3-1 thrashing and register the Jinja-based club's first win of the term.
SC Villa commanded the entire second half and had a goal to show for it through a Kipson Atuhaire strike, his second of the season, on 16 minutes. But Victors returned energised after half time and Dennis Guma fouled Arthur Ssemazzi in the area for Isinde to equalise from the spot.
Skipper Simon Masaba was shown red for handling in the box on 74 minutes. Then Guma brought down Luzige 10 minutes later and the striker buried the two resultant penalties expertly. The match at Nakivubo had pitted Nalubaale manager and former KCC skipper Mujib Kasule against his erstwhile club and there was no animosity as the two sides sorted themselves out.
KCC's Sula Bagala and Martin Muwanga all fluffed their early chances as they shot wide with the keeper to beat. But the dreadlock was broken on 32 minutes when Sapeo dived to head in from a Moses Oloya free kick.
"Some of my players played on injections but the important point is we got the three points," said coach Sam Ssimbwa." Nalubaale midfielder Simon Mbazira was impressive on the day pulling strings together in the centre of the park. Despite the hosts passing the ball beautifully, KCC's experience prevailed. "I think we played well. KCC are an experienced team," said Kasule, adding, "They got their chance and used it. But I think we were better in the second half."
