Kampala — KICC'S Amir Khan picked five wickets as he put on ice Tornado's early title celebrations by masterminding their second Castle League defeat at the Entebbe oval Sunday.
Elsewhere, David Mutalya also helped Wanderers defend a seemingly affordable 101 runs in the other premier league encounter, while Arthur Kyobe's unbeaten 73 spurred Premier to another victory in the plate league action.
Tornado, having lost only to ACC in the league, had gone to the game as favourites. Despite a long delay following a soaked wicket due to a previous downpour, Benjamin Musoke (5/19) and Keith Legesi (2/18) played a pivotal role in limiting KICC to 134, a score that appeared to be within reach, more so against a star-studded Tornado.
But the chase got tough with Akbar Baig (8) being trapped by Khan (5/28) in the second over. Khan also trapped Raymond Otim, before top scorer Legesi was dismissed. The champions crumbled to 104 all out in the 40th over.
The win gave hope to Wanderers who, despite a poor batting show that saw them put on just 101 runs, bowled out Rounders at 57 with Mutalya (4/16) and Humphrey Kayondo (3/11) doing the damage.
