Uganda:Jeremy Evicted

Nigel Nassar

2 November 2009

Kampala — With just a month to when the last man standing walks away $200,000 richer, the Big Brother Revolution housemates keep reducing by the day.

They were 25. Now following Sunday evening's eviction of Kenya's Jeremy Ndirangu, the number has come down to nine, with Nigeria having the biggest stake in the game, as her three contestants are still in the house.

Jeremy could not believe it when his name was read as the evictee. In fact, his jaw dropped at the sound of his name from show host IK Osakioduwa.

His love interest, Emma, from Angola, did not have much time to comfort him, as he was given just 30 seconds to leave the house. She tried her best to restrain tears as her only pillar in the house walked away from the dream to be a millionaire. She had already cried earlier in the week on learning that Jeremy was nominated for possible eviction, a premonition that made her come to terms with the possibility of his leaving.

In fact, owing to this premonition, the couple also dissolved their romance beforehand. By the time Jeremy left, it had turned into a platonic relationship, citing long distance as the barrier. In a post-eviction interview with IK, Jeremy confessed he had really fallen in love with Emma, but that the distance between Angola and Kenya would not allow for a serious relationship after the show.

Jeremy now has to go back to Kenya and try to make up with his girlfriend, whom he broke up with before entering the house. Emma told him last week she would pray for him to be taken back. Will she accept him after all the kissing he had with the Angolan in the house?

A number of fans have been waiting to see how Emma performs in the house without Jeremy, as his presence has kept her in his shadow. So his eviction could either make or break her. It also means Nigeria's Kevin, who has been harbouring hidden feelings for Emma, might shift allegiance from Tanzania's Elizabeth to the Angolan since he has been rejected by Elizabeth a number of times.

Also look out for how Nigeria's Nkenna handles the Molotov cocktail Jeremy threw at her on Sunday for not having saved him from the possible evictees' list. She is to prepare all the meals and wash all utensils for a week.

Meanwhile, housemates yesterday nominated each other for possible eviction. Buy your copy tomorrow to find out who is up for possible eviction.
