Dutse — The police in Jigawa State have confirmed the arrest of the former Chairman of Gwaram Local Government Area Alhaji Auwalu Sule Kila over his alleged involvement in the murder of a three year old girl, Zainab Tanimu Ayuba.

Alhaji Auwalu Sule Kila was accused of being the sponsor of the killing by the three suspects earlier arrested by the police in connection with the murder in Dazara village last week. Confirming the arrest to Daily Trust yesterday in Dutse, the Police Public Relations Officer ASP Abdul Jinjiri said the prime suspect was arrested Saturday in Gwaram by the Divisional Police Office (DPO) in-charge of the area. Jinjiri further said the former local government chairman had denied the allegation.

The police spokesman said the police were still investigating the matter to ascertain the sponsor, the killer and the circumstances leading to the killing.

"We will intensify investigation until we find out the sponsor and the killer among all the suspects we have so far arrested in connection with the brutal killing. No stone will be left unturned during our investigation," he assured. Zainab was beheaded by suspected hired killers who wrapped her head in a polythene bag and took it to the residence of the present chairman of the local government, Alhaji Bala Sule Kila.
