Luwero — Luweero District administration has started a watertight system in the award of contracts to weed out incompetent contestants. This comes after several contract deals went sour, costing the district millions of money.
The Chief Administrative Officer, Mr Nelson Kirenda, said the measures will include physical verification of physical address of contractors, samples of works ever accomplished by the bidding contractors, verification of machinery owned by companies among others.
"Some contractors have a tendency of deceiving the District Procurement Unit by submitting fake documents explaining their vast experience and capacity to do work," Mr Kirenda said. He was speaking during the opening of bids for various services in the district recently.
