Bauchi — The Appointments and Promotions Committee of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, has confirmed the promotions of five academic staff of the institution to the ranks of Professors and Associate Professors (Readers).
According to a statement signed by the Deputy Registrar, Public Relations of ATBU, Andee Iheme, the promotions of the five academic staff of the institution took place at the 13th meeting of the Committee held on July 30, 2009 following the receipt of positive external assessment of the staff.
It stated further that according to their letters of promotions dated August 17, 2009 and signed by the university's Registrar, Deacon Joe I. Shaibu, the staff, Dr. Rabi'u Sani and Dr. John Ochi of Agricultural Economics and Extension Programme were promoted to the rank of Professors of Agricultural Economics; Dr. Gerry Egbo of the Mechanical/Production Engineering Programme was promoted to Professor of Energy Studies.
"Promoted to the rank of Associate Professors (Readers) were Dr. Shafiu Mustapaha (Crop Production Programme), Reader in Soil Science and Dr. (Mrs.) E. F. Fabiyi (Agricultural Economics and Extension Programme), Reader in Agricultural Extension," it added.
