Osogbo — A traditional ruler, the Aloko of Iloko Ijesha land, Oba Oladele Olashore, has decried the level of decay that has affected the public educational Institutions in the country.

The monarch who is also the first Chancellor of the Joseph Ayo Babalola University, Ikeji-Arakeji, Osun State noted that no level of education has been spared.

According to him, the primary, secondary and tertiarry institutions suffered set back from seemingly lack of adequate provisions and genuine commitment to excellence and honest concern for the children that pass through them. He stressed that the decay was evident in the incessant industrial disputes which have resulted in having the gates of schools and colleges shut and students are exposed to dangers and all manners of evils as a result of their idleness.

Oba Olashore pointed out that quality education does a lot of good to the country, adding that free education without emphasis on quality and adequate supervision of teachers was not the best.

He urged both government, parents, teachers, and unionists to have a rethink and determine what exactly the country want for the future of this nation.

The monarch pointed out that at the moment the nation will continue to waste the potentials of many youths who pass through the public school system, because of poor standard of education.
