NAN — Prof. Riskuwa Shehu, the Vice Chancellor of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, has said that 14,000 candidates sat for the university's 2009/2010 Post UME Examinations.
Shehu disclosed this while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sokoto last Saturday after monitoring the conduct of the examinations. According to him, the admission quota of the university from the National Universities Commission (NUC) is 3,100 and it will be done on 60:40 per cent ratio in favour of the sciences.
"Our minimum cut off points for all the courses is 180 while cut off points for the various courses may be fixed by the Senate of the University. "It will be based on national merit, educationally less developed states and catchment areas," he said.
Shehu also said that the authorities of the university would continue to maintain its high standard. He said that staffing and the provision of facilities would be given top priority to cope up with the increasing demand.
Shehu commended both the academic and non academic staff of the university for their dedication and commitment to duty.
