Somalia: Ahlu Sunna Clerics Denounce Non Stop Fighting

Somalia — The Islamic clerics of Ahlu Sunna Waljama'a in Duso-Mareb town in north Somalia have denounced the non stop fighting continuing in Somalia, officials told Shabelle radio on Tuesday.

Sheik Abdulahi Sheik Abdirahman Abu Yusuf, the secretary of the information for the Islamic clerics of Ahlu Sunna Waljama'a told reporters that they had issued a call for the continuing fighting in the country saying that it had resulted in more casualties to the Somali people who are in the areas where the fighting often continues in the country.

"We are condemning the continuing fighting in Somalia and we are very sorry for it to continue further because the people were fed up with droughts, displacement and other more problems," Abu Yusuf said.

He reiterated his call to the Somali people who are fighting in the country to respect the people and halt the continuing war in Somalia for more than 18 years saying that it left more lives and loss of properties of the Somalis.

On the other hand the official of the Islamic clerics of Ahlu Sunna Waljama'a for the information affairs Sheik Abu Ya'qub has harshly condemned the illegal action committed by the Ugandan troops in Somalia who took advantage a Somali girl for circumstances she was suffering in Somalia warning the other Somali girls to have such relation ship with the foreign troops in the country.

The call of Ahlu Sunna Waljama'a clerics comes as they are fighting against with other forces against them in parts of the country.

Somali has no central government since the overthrow of the former regime Mohamed Si'ad Barre in 1991.
