Abuja — With Golden Eaglets successful completion of their group stage matches recording a 100% record to book a knock out stage slot against New Zealand on Thursday, Nigeria's minister and chairman National sports Commission, Engineer Sani Ndanusa has expressed gratitude with the team's performance after a trying start.
He thanked Nigerian football fans for their conduct so far in the on going FIFA under 17 world cup and the group stages in particular, stating that Nigerians are known all over the world for their passion for football and support for their national teams.
To this end, Ndanusa said this is the time for the teeming Nigerian fans to continue to support the boys as they prepare to take on their next opponents in the round of 16 Thursday.
Commenting on the performance of the Nigerian team, he commended the boys for keeping a hundred percent record in all their outings and urged them not to relent until they reach the final and retain the cup as the defending champions.
He said this is the moment Nigerians must give full support to the team as they file out, adding that this is when the team needs Nigerians most. He said the best feeling a person experiences is when one holds the National flag and sings the national anthem during international competitions like the one going on in Nigeria.
