Abuja — The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) yesterday said the nationwide strike action declared by the union to commence yesterday would be starting in Abuja the Federal capital by Friday if the Federal government fails to implement the consolidated salary structure for the Federal judiciary workers by Thursday.

Meanwhile the union however said that the action will continue in all states of the federation, except Adamawa which had implemented the consolidated salary structure for the judiciary workers in the state.

Speaking with LEADERSHIP on phone, Monday, JUSUN National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Marwan Mustapha Adamu said the action could not hold in Abuja following the intervention of the Minister of Justice, Michael Aondoakaa and his Labour and Productivity counterpart, Prince Adetokunbo Kayode on the need to halt the action at the federal level.

Marwan said though the union had signed a memorandum of understanding with government representatives which said it can only take care of Federal judicial workers, but said a circular is yet to be issued in that regard.

According to him, "Why strike did not hold in Abuja was because our union and government signed a memorandum of understanding for government to issue a circular to when it can implement the CONJUSS in the federal level.

"So after the notice of strike action by the union, the minister of justice appealed to us to halt the action in Abuja but directed that respective states should go and negotiate with the union in the state.

"In that regard, we gave Federal Government till Thursday to implement the CONJUSS for federal level, but for the states which are yet to implement the CONJUSS, the strike continue until they deem it fit to implement the CONJUSS for our members", he warned.
