3 November 2009

Elite, political and traditional leaders, civil society, economic operators prepare to demonstrate gratitude on November 4.

November 4th, 2009 will be a day for the North West whose inhabitants, elite, political/traditional leaders, civil society, friends and economic operators have been mobilized to come out in Bamenda to show gratitude and reaffirm their loyalty to President Biya. The event organized by North West sons and daughters with Hon. Dr. Fuh Calistus Gentry at the helm is expected to be a crowd puller with cultural groups from virtually all the Sub Divisions, current and former MPs, mayors and councillors.

The rare event comes about 127 days after the lifting of H.E Yang Philemon, an illustrious son of the region to the high office of Prime Minister, Head of government on June 30, 2009. Many in the North West say the appointment is evident that President Paul Biya is committed to do business with the region and it is incumbent to show gratitude and reaffirm loyalty to the Head of State. Away from that, the event is an acknowledgment and a commitment by sons and daughters of the region to take an appointment with the future and history in their overwhelming conviction that the nation has and will be built with the North West.

Metropolitan Bamenda, the host city is getting set for the event which is virtually on every lip. The Bamenda Congress Hall is currently undergoing a face lift. Banners carrying messages ahead of the event are flying at main junctions, hostesses are rehearsing and respective organizing committees are polishing preparations. Press men and women were on October 28, 2009 briefed to rise to expectation with a display of professionalism in coverage ahead, during and after the event.
