Vodacom Tanzania and its service provider, Shivacom, have awarded Miss Tanzania 2009 winner, Miriam Gerald, a Sh53.2 million sports car.
The brand new Suzuki Grand Vitara was handed to over to her by Ezekiel Majere of Vodacom. The beuty queen had already bagged Sh9 million in cash prizes for winning the crown.
A delighted Miriam thanked the pageant organisers for the present, promising to use the vehicle to promote the course for which the competition aspires.
"I will not abuse rules and regulations governing Vodacom Miss Tanzania, I will make sure that I promote the pageant in the country and tourism," said Miriam.
She said she will strive to do well in the Miss World Pageant and emulate former Miss Africa 2005, Nancy Sumary. Nancy finished among the top five at the world stage in that year.
Vodacom Tanzania head of sponsorship and communication, Mr George Rweumbiza, said they are sure Miriam will do well in the world pageant to inspire other potential beauty queens to get involved in the pageant next year.
Lino International Agency, managing director Hashim Lundenga, said that they will hold a farewell party today before the queen leaves on Friday for London ahead of World Trade Travel Market meeting and the Miss World beauty pageant scheduled for South Africa on December 12.
The send off party would be held at the Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC) and Mr Emmanuel Ole Naiko, the executive director cum Vodacom Miss Tanzania committee patron, will be the chief guest
