COPPERBELT Show Society chairperson Bill Osborn has said local people stand to benefit from the economic zones being created through job creation and business opportunities.
Mr Osborn said in an interview in Kitwe yesterday that the Government should ensure that investment brought into the country did not harm the people, but helped to improve their lives in various ways.
Mr Osborn also advised Zambians to compete effectively with foreign business by providing quality products and services.
Zambians should set their own standards of producing quality products and services so that they could penetrate the market and hold the respect and confidence of their customers.
"As you know business opportunities will not come knocking on our doors, but we should be able to compete effectively with other foreign companies," he said.
Mr Osborn also advised the Government to encourage local and foreign investors to invest in various sectors of the economy other than the mining industry.
The Government should encourage local and foreign investors to invest in other sectors of the economy by making investment attractive in other sectors of the economy in the country.
While the investment environment was conducive, the Government should continue refining its policies to make Zambia the best investment destination.
