Kampala — THE High Court in Rukungiri on Friday sentenced a robber, Moses Murera, 36, to 10 years imprisonment. Justice Yorokamu Bamwine heard that Murera and Moses Turyasingura on May 8, 2007, stole a gun from a security officer who was guarding Rukungiri Kindergarten and Primary School.
Prosecution led by the State Attorney, Martin Rukundo, told court that Murere and Turyasingura used the gun to rob people.
Rukundo added that Turyasingura died in prison in 2008 of natural causes. Passing judgement, Bamwine said it was proved beyond doubt that Murera was a robber.
"I concur with assessors that you are guilty of the offence and I, therefore, sentence you to 10 years in prison," Bamwine ruled.
The High Court session was opened in Rukungiri on October 26 and is expected to run for one month.
During the session, Bamwine will hear 31 cases, in which defilement leads with 13, murder eight, rape six, robbery three and one case of kidnap.
