Nigeria:Young Professionals in Oil Sector Challenged to Leadership Role

Lagos — The new regional director for Africa and Deputy Managing Director (Corporate) of Total Upstream Companies in Nigeria Mr. Alek Musa has challenged young African professional to be ready to take over from the present top management of most international oil companies.

He said the young professionals have what it takes to take oil and gas business to the next level.

Mr. Musa who spoke at Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition (ATCE) of the Society of Petroleum Engineers [SPE] International, held recently in USA, also re-affirmed that his commitment to the development of the profession and the industry will focus on the development of those who will drive the industry in the next generation.

"We must remain in the forefront of the 'big crew change' - an initiative aimed at preparing young professionals to be ready to take over from the present top management of most international oil companies (IOCs)", he said. He said that he would work towards the establishment of an SPE Mentor's club to encourage and inspire young professionals to develop their potentials so as to attain the height of their profession and contribute meaningfully to Africa's development.
