Kampala — THE Trade and Tourism minister, Maj. Gen. Kahinda Otafiire, has denied sending people to Nakumat supermarket for electrical appliances for his alleged hotel in Mbarara.
"I do not know any of the accused persons. I do not own a hotel in Mbarara," the minister testified in court on Monday.
Nakawa Magistrates' Court heard that on June 18, 2009, Sam Wapande, Stephen Byamukama, Moses Kassaga and others obtained goods worth over sh25m from the supermarket, claiming that Otafiire had sent them.
The suspects allegedly issued two forged cheques and walked away with six refrigerators, eight colored televisions, two cookers, 10 electric kettles, and 10 sets of glasses.
