Harare — Fungisai Mashavave's backing vocalist, songstress Rumbidzai Ndoro (28) has gone solo and produced her debut album Huya uwone.
Popularly known in the gospel music circles as Rumbie, the accomplished musician has rubbed shoulders with big names in the gospel industry such as Elias Musakwa, Ngaavongwe Sisters and Shalom Singers,
Rumbie said she feels time was ripe for her to do her own things.
"I just feel that it's now time for me to grow and stretch my wings and fly," she said.
The debut album, which was launched three months ago, has six songs, which include Jesu Rugare which she said talks about finding peace in Jesus.
The second song entitled Dai Ndakaziva talks about how easily one can get misled if one does not follow God 's plan.
The third track gives praise and thanks to God for being there when one is in trouble and its title is Varipedyo.
Huya uone, which is the title track, talks of how God lifts someone from the ashes of poverty to sit at the royal table. Track number five and six talks of more or less the same things as the other tracks.
"The way I see it the all the tracks are complementary to each other. What one song talks about is echoed by the other songs," she said.
Ndoro said her music has traditional, rumba and a jazz-fusion.
"Jesu Rugare and Huya uone are actually danceable songs, these are songs that one can actually get down to," she said.
The lady with a silky soothing voice said she was into gospel music and will not consider any other genre as far as her career was concerned.
The songstress has session artistes who help her when she is recording as well as doing live shows.
"They are people who help me out and I would like to acknowledge them, Rudo Chasi, Jean Chisango, Ivy Mangwiro," she said.
She admitted that Fungisai was her inspiration.
"I will be lying if I say I do not envy Fungisai, she has so much happening for her I wish I would achieve the same things she has achieved," she said.
