Bauchi — A Bauchi-based non-governmental organisation (CYDI) spends N500,000 monthly in feeding the physically-challenged people who undergo skill acquisition programme in its centre.

This was disclosed by the Initiator of CYDI, Hajia Abioduu Hauwa Isa Yuguda who is also the wife of the Bauchi State Governor while briefing journalists on the activities of the organisation in her office, yesterday.

Hajia Yuguda said the disabled, who undergo training in vocations ranging from sewing, carpentry, making of beads and adire cloth, shoe making, welding, poultry and others, are being freely fed daily by CYDI for the past two years.

"This is part of our effort in giving the physically challenged people a sense of belonging in the society. Apart from the feeding, we enroll them free of charge and also take care of their transportation.

We have a school bus that goes from house to house every morning to convey them to the centre and also take them back home after closing," she said

CYDI graduated and empowered over 300 disabled this year.
