Abuja — The Deputy President of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Sen. Ekweremadu has joined the House of Representatives to condemn the installation of the speed breakers on roads and highways of the Federal Capital Territory.

Sen. Ekweremadu (CFR) made this statement to journalists after he commissioned the FRSC three new state-of-the-art heavy duty tow trucks at the corps headquarters, Abuja. He said the road bumps (speed breakers) were completely irresponsible and could not be seen in cites of the world like Abuja.

He said, "if the government in Abuja is anxious about the safety of people, they should put speed cameras. They can deploy people to monitor the speed of drivers and not putting those nasty bumps. It doesn't look well in a city as Abuja. They should be removed. It seems so irresponsible.

The commander of the Federal Republic (CFR) assured Nigerians that the National Assembly would continue to render the necessary support that will enhance the capability of the corps and prepare it to render services as the lead agency in traffic safety in the country most efficiently.

The corps marshal and chief executive of the corps, Osita Chidoka noted that it was the first-time in the history of the corps that brand new duty tow trucks of with higher number of tonnage were injected in the corps' fleet.

"Our projection is to have 12 of the heavy duty tow trucks in all our zonals command headquarters and medium duty tow trucks in sector commands and heavy traffic areas of the country for prompt removal of all obstructions from our roads. These tow trucks shall be deployed along Mokwa-Jebba, Abuja-Lokoja and Lagos-Ibadan roads to take care of the perennial road congestions noticed along these roads."
