Liberia: Marketers Push Urey Forward

Traders at the Ma Juah market in Vai Town and the Redemption market along the Somalia Drive have described the candidacy of private sector Guru Clemenceau Urey as a unique chance to address issues affecting the Informal sector of the Liberian economy.

Speaking during a visit of The Unity party Senatorial candidate Monday, the marketers among other things recounted the need for an advocate that will rise above self interest and put forth issues affecting their constituency. At the encounter characterized by jubilation the marketers speaking through their spokesperson, Cecelia Gobah Wrueh noted that the time has come for people with experience and proven identification with proven answers to ascend to position of trust and public confidence.

They among other things recounted the commitment of the Sirleaf led government to upgrade the country market building, something he noted as helped marketers leave the streets. They enjoin Urey to continue his people driven approaches as a way of helping them meet concerns of Market buildings and better environment of traders.

They stressed their willingness to join forces with government to help improve the conditions of the markets as they form a strategic bloc of the nation cconomy.

At The Redemption market on the Somalia Drive, The area known as Chicken soup factory community, another enthusiastic group of supporters showed up in droves putting forth concerns they believe Unity Party Senatorial candidate can redirect the situation. They hailed President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf for the demonstrated commitment to improve the general outlook of marker stalls and engendering small skill traders for higher heights.

They call Mr. Urey to maintain his upbeat posture as a secure ingredient o bringing solutions to Liberians at the lower of the national structure. Speaking earlier the UP Senatorial candidate reminded the gathering that the gains by government will be consolidated and improve upon by electing a legislator who bring a lot to the table.

He asserted that as a private sector individual, he will advance legislations to elevate the standard of the table market sellers. He referred to market involved with the every day trading of basic goods and services as a vital pillar of the nation's survival.

He rallied marketers to come in mass on November 10 and Vote the last candidate on the ballot stressing that his placement of the ballot reflects the fulfillment of biblical prophesy that the Last shall become the first. Urey told the gathering that Liberia's democracy can be given additional boost with elections of people based on their contribution of people to the communities.

Rep. Biney Drags New Broom Publisher To Court - Claims USD$500,000 For Damage

Maryland County District #3 Representative to the National Legislature, Hon. James P.Biney has filed a lawsuit at the 6th Judicial Circuit Court against the Managing Editor of the New Broom News paper and its publisher Roland Worwee for act of libel.

The lawsuit follows the publisher's repeated publication of several libelous and defamatory stories with intention to tarnish or damage the political career of the Maryland County Lawmaker.

The false publication in the New Broom is an account of what publisher Worwee imaged was the Representative's role in the contractual agreement to operate the Cavalla Rubber Corporation. The Maryland County Representative believes strongly that publisher Worwee published those stories with the knowledge of falsity and reckless regard for the truth.

The Maryland Lawmaker, through the Henries Law Firm, has prayed to the Civil Law Court to find the New Broom and its Publisher liable to him in an amount sufficient as may be determined by the jury but not less that (USD$500,000), Five Hundred Thousand United States Dollars for general damages and to grant relief that the judge may deem legal and equitable.

The lawsuit filed October 20, 2009 is expected to be held during the December term of court before his Honor Judge Peter Gbeniwelleh.
