3 November 2009

The Liberia National Police has arrested and charged Morlia Sillah, Abu Sackor, John Torbor and Christopher Elliot with burglary.

Their arrest was based on complain filed by Mr. Chidi Aba who explained to the police that his auto parts shop was broken into by some unknown individuals.

Mr. Abba said he returned from church in Logan Town, where he had gone to attend a tarry and fell as sleep. According to him later received a phone call at about 6:00AM that his shop has been broken into by criminals.

"I immediately rushed to the area and realized that more than half of my goods were stolen," Mr. Abba explained to the police. He however did not give cash value for the stolen goods.

During police investigation, the defendants admitted to the allegation against them and revealed that while on their normal routine, they came across this auto shop broken into by some of their friends in persons of "Osaryo, Teddy Bear, Desperado, Klima Baysah and Logan," and decided to enter and made away with some items.

Based upon the defendants' admittance to 'entering the shop and taking some items', the investigators were left with no alternative but to charge them (defendants) with burglary.

The crime (burglary) is in violation of section 15.20 of the new penal code of Liberia.

Meanwhile, defendants Morlia Sillah, Abu Sackor, John Taylor and Christopher Elliot are expected to appear in court soon.
