Luanda — Luanda governor, Francisca do Espírito Santo, launched Tuesday in Samba District a campaign dubbed Ecologic Christmas, based on the collection of plastic bottles to build a tree in that surroundings.
During the act, the government official said that with Christmas and yearend festivities coming around, the institution mobilised youths from the capital city particularly, aimed at organising the ecologic Christmas, taking to some districts tree planting activities.
The project continues to expand environment programmes in every school and communities.
She explained that the campaign started in Povo em Luta school, Samba District, due to the inexistence of environment nucleus, creation of a workshop for practical work and responsibilities of activities already developed by students, in environmental education.
The governor added that they expect to collect around 90, 000 plastic bottles to build an 11 metre-tall Christmas tree, having appealed to citizens, business people, users of public services and private institutions to collaborate in tree building.
