Mbanza Kongo — At least 2,482 Angolans recently expelled from the DR Congo (DRC) were vaccinated against various diseases in the Kasilia and Lendi refugee camps, in the district of Kuimba, northern Zaire province.
According to a press note from the local Public Health and Disease Control Department released to Angop last Tuesday in Mbanza Kongo, under the programme, 2,295 people were vaccinated against tetanus and another 44 gainst measles.
44 people were vaccinated against yellow fever, 46 against poliomyelitis, 35 (pentavalente) and 30 children under 10 years of age were administered parasite cleansing drugs.
For the campaign, Kuimba health authorities set up a mobile team comprising three technicians.
Kuimba district is 80 kilometres northeast of the province's capital city, Mbanza Kongo, sharing a border strip with the DRC Bas Congo region.
