Harare — 20-YEAR-old Chipo Pasipamire of Bindura is this year's winner of the Miss Tourism Mashonaland Central after beating 14 other contestants at the provincial beauty pageant held at the weekend.
Shyllyn Manokore (24) of Shamva and Nyaradzo Nhongonhema (18) came out first and second princesses respectively while 18-year-old Yolanda Matewu was adjudged Miss Personality.
In an interview with The Herald soon after the crowing ceremony, Pasipamire said she was now eyeing the Miss Tourism Zimbabwe pageant after scooping the provincial crown.
"I am considering modelling as a career worth pursuing and I am now eyeing the Miss Tourism Zimbabwe crown which I hope I would bring to Mashonaland Central for the first time in the province's history," she said.
Pasipamire said she was planning some to do some charity work in the province.
She urged locals to capitalise on the potential tourism market that was in the province in light of next year's football extravaganza to be held in South Africa.
"Mashonaland Central has great potential in the tourism and hospitality industry which however tend to go unnoticed," she said.
Chairman of the Miss Tourism Bindura Trust Umtali Saidi said the trust were still the legal holders of the Miss Tourism Mashonaland Central beauty pageant.
"There were people who also wanted to run the beauty pageant but we have since resolved the issue.
"Their licence will start being operational next year, not this year. Otherwise we are still the genuine licence holders of the Miss Tourism Mash Central pageant," he said.
