Tunis — One of the objectives of President Ben Ali's 2009-2014 electoral program is to reach 10 million tourist entries by 2014.
In his opening address to a colloquium on priority immaterial actions (AIP) within the framework of the upgrading program destined to hotel units, the Minister of tourism, Mr Khelil Laajimi stressed the importance of the program in improving service quality, as well as the sector's competitiveness and profitability.
He also called on all hotel units to adhere to this program in order to ensure greater cost effectiveness by focusing on the training of human resources.
The colloquium which is organized jointly by the Ministry of tourism and the French Development Agency (AFD), was the occasion for AFD's Director, Mr Roger Goudiard to review the various partnerships the agency has set up in Tunisia, including technological innovation, and the support of Tunisian- French partnership projects.
He also evoked the possibility for Tunisian hotel managers since 2008, to benefit from a credit line of some 50,000 Euros to finance environmentally- friendly projects.
