Tunis — President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali received, on Wednesday, Secretary-General of the Green Party for Progress (PVP) Mr. Mongi Khamassi who said that he had the honour to meet the Head of State who has constantly lent a receptive ear to all parties' opinions and approaches so as to strengthen the political reformist process and contribute to the success of the country's pluralistic and democratic experience.
"I was able to note," he said, "the President of the Republic's strong will to strengthen and develop political life and pluralism in such a manner as to consolidate the brilliant success scored in the last elections, which brought about a rational electoral behaviour from all parties, thanks to the Head of State's will to ensure the attributes of transparency, integrity, neutrality of the administration and fairness among the candidates."
He said he had "extended, to the Head of State, PVP activists' congratulations for his brilliant victory in the presidential elections, a success that materialises the overwhelming adherence of the Tunisian people, all segments and all sectors and regions included, to his modernist and reformist programme."
"This cohesion," he underlined, "evidences confidence placed in the President of the Republic, being the man of the current stage, the most capable to achieve more gains and successes in the country and take up the challenges posed, thanks to the clear-sightedness and the forward-looking and strategic vision he has demonstrated over the past twenty-two years."
After praising the interest President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali takes in environment and his care to improve the citizens' living conditions and well-being, Mr. Mongi Khamassi said he had conveyed, to the Head of State, PVP's will to contribute to the materialisation and success of the President of the Republic's programme for the next five-year term "Together, We Meet Challenges." "Indeed, he added, this ambitious programme will ensure greater gains for Tunisia and help it forge ahead to join the rank of developed countries.
He stressed the interest the President of the Republic takes in the role the opposition assumes to actively contribute to taking up challenges, as part of the national tenets and independence of domestic decision, as well as to strengthen the foundations of dialogue and concord in the service of the Nation's higher interest.
