Abuja — The ground seems set for a more fulfilling bilateral trade between Nigeria and Iran as the two countries have agreed to strengthen ties through technology transfer.
Ambassador of Iran to Nigeria Khosrow Rezazadeh said his country is willing and committed to extending its knowledge in technology to Nigeria as part of efforts to cement previous business agreement and to also invest in the mines and energy sectors of Nigeria.
He said this yesterday while addressing delegations of Nigerian and Iranian businessmen in Abuja.
According to Rezazadeh, Iran has specific interest in the Nigeria's mining, oil $ gas sectors. He said Iran would bring to Nigeria business opportunities in the area of technology, building and construction and oil installations equipment among others.
Other areas Nigeria may benefit from Iran include road and bridge making technology, painting industry and green house products as well as automobiles and spare parts.
The Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Investment promotion Council (NIPC) Mustapha Bello who said Nigeria is willing and ready to cement business ties with Iran because it has noticed that Iran has advanced technologically and that Iranians are serious businessmen that can be depended on for positive results.
He was represented by Manzo Ahmed.
He said: "We are willing and open minded to do business with Iran and Nigeria has a large energy market for the Iranians to explore."
The President of the Nigerian export Import bank (NEXIM) Robot Uwaka assured the delegation of its support in ensuring that barriers to trade in terms of financial support, risk management and others are removed for a smoother business in Nigeria. He was represented by the Ifyin Nwade.
