Kampala — THE management of Ssuubi FM radio station has apologised to President Yoweri Museveni and Ugandans over comments that could have precipitated the September riots in Buganda.
Addressing the press at the station's head office in Bakuli, the managing director, Bogere Masembe, said they realised that some callers should have been restrained.
"We would like to apologise to the President of Uganda, the general public, the Inspector General of Police and the chairman of the broadcasting council," the special adviser to the station, Kizza Senninde, said.
Masembe said when reopened, they will abide by the laws and will avoid a repeat of what transpired.
The apology comes a day after Akaboozi Ku Bbiri, a Luganda station, was reopened.
The Government closed Central Broadcasting Stations (CBS), Radio Sapientia, Suubi FM and Akaboozi ku Bbiri on September 11.
The radio stations reportedly incited violence after the Government advised Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi against visiting Kayunga district.
