Kampala — SIX firms have been shortlised by Kampala City Council to bid for the provision of consultancy services for the Kampala Institutional and Infrastructure Development Programme (KIIDP) roads.
The consultancy will cover design review and update, detailed design and construction supervision of road upgrading and junction improvement works.
The shortlisted firms are Egis BCEOM International of France, Rites Ltd of India in association with Uganda's Kagga & Partners Ltd and Kenya's Gibb Africa Ltd.
Others are Typsa Consulting Engineers of Spain in association with PROME Ltd, AAW Consulting Engineers in association with MBW and PEC (Uganda) and Roughton International.
According to KCC website, www.kcc.go.ug, it is from the six firms that the best shall be picked to undertake the assignment.
The civil works are planned to cover the upgrading of more than 14km in the city.
The KIIDP project, which is estimated to cost $100m, was designed to develop strong governance and management capacity in KCC to enhance service delivery and economic development.
It will assist KCC to address the fast-deteriorating physical infrastructure in the city and improve its management and service delivery capacities.
The KIIDP shall be implemented in three phases covering a period of 10 years.
The first phase will cost over $38m and will take three years. The project is funded by World Bank.
