Pretoria — President Jacob Zuma's visit to Equatorial Guinea provided a good opportunity for both South Africa and that country to proceed to review different issues relating to bilateral cooperation.
According to the Department of International Relations and Cooperation, Zuma arrived back in South Africa on Thursday after his two-day talks with Equatorial Guinea President Obiang Nguema Mbasogo.
On Tuesday, Mbasogo announced that four South African mercenaries were pardoned and released from prison after being held there on charges of plotting to overthrow the government.
Both Zuma and Mbasogo commended the achievements made in the context of the excellent relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
They also expressed their strong desire to promote and diversify the economic, cultural, scientific and technical cooperation between the governments of the both states.
The deliberations led to the signing of two Memoranda of Understanding focusing on training and exchange of experience in the field of diplomatic and consular matters and on common interests and mutual consultations.
