5 November 2009

Lagos — As the Golden Eaglets prepare to engage the Kiwis of New Zealand in the round of 16 of the on-going FIFA U-17 World Cup, the Teslim Balogun Foundation has called on the team to remain focused and determined to defend the championship title and bring glory to Nigeria.

In a message to the team, the foundation, through its president, Kayode Teslim Balogun, observed that the Eaglets are easily the best in the competition and they have all it takes to lift the trophy.

"You have shown great capability to compete at the world stage. You have demonstrated commitment and great fighting spirit, coming back twice against Germany and Argentina to lead the group. You have all it takes to win this championship. Just believe in yourselves and give it all your best," the foundation said to the Eaglets.

It however cautioned against complacency and indiscipline saying, "the game gets more technical at the knock out stage and it becomes imperative for players to maintain tactical discipline by adhering to the instruction of the coach and taking their chances when they come."
