Gambia: Thieving Fisherman Convicted

The Brikama Magistrates Court, presided over by Magistrate JA Effim, on Tuesday, convicted and sentenced one Alagie Bah to a fine of D1,500 and D2,500 in default to serve 3 months jail term on each count after he was found guilty of shop breaking and stealing.

According to the prosecution, the accused on the 23rd of October 2009, at the village of Sanyang, broke into the shop of one Bubacarr Ngum and stole nine hundred and twenty-litre gallons of gas oil valued at D5,550. He pleaded guilty to the offence.
