The Marie Bantang Rice Farming Project, on Tuesday, October 27, donated materials worth over D40, 000.00 to Dankunku Basic Cycle School in Niamina and the community and youths of Dankunku, in Central River Region (CRR) south.
The donated materials included sewing machines, educational materials and sporting gears. Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Osaka Camara, the assistant secretary, gave a brief history of the project, noting that it was established two years ago by Ismaila Camara and wife based in the Netherlands.
He said the aim of the project is to assist the needy people especially in the areas of agriculture, education and youth empowerment. For his part, Hon. Essa Saidykan, the National Assembly member of the area, hailed the donors for complementing government's efforts in providing such items to the school and the community. He further spoke at length about the importance of acquiring skills, as the sewing machine donated to the community will help to improve their livelihood.
Alhaji Haibo Ceesay, the district chief, called on the people to make best use of the items and to handle them properly. Other speakers at the ceremony included Jamanty Mboge, Ebou Mboge, Kawsuba Sillah, Sunkary Ceesay and Omar A. Jawo.
