Gambia: Upper Fulladou Harvest President Jammeh's Groundnut Farms

Janjangbureh — The community of Upper Fulladu West District in the Central River Region south at the weekened, harvested President Jammeh's groundnut farms at the villages of Sinchu Chanderry and Pachang (not that of Upper Saloum).

The exercise was led by the local authorities in the region. Speaking shortly after the harvesting exercise, the governor of the region, Alhaji Ganyie Touray, highlighted the significant achievements recorded in the agricultural sector of the country for the past fifteen years, attributing it to massive response by Gambians to President Jammeh's back-to-the-land call.

He further noted that the focus of president on the agricultural sector is to attain food self-sufficiency for the country and to reduce poverty in every household. He thanked the people of his region for supporting President Jammeh. Biran Baldeh, the chief of Upper Fulladou West, said the inititaive of creating farms for the president is to complement his efforts in the Girl's Education Trust Fund.

He called on the people to continue praying for the Gambian leader and his party in order to continue to be steadfast in the implementation of the development projects and programmes and improving the livelihood of Gambians. He commended the people of Upper Fulladou for their participation in the harvesting of the said farms of the president.
