Lagos — South-east Peoples Assembly (SEPA) has condemned the role being played by Chief Chris Uba in Anambra politics, accusing him of precipitating the crisis engulfing the state.
It also warned Uba to halt his ambition to impose his candidate on Anambra State or be prepared to face the wrath of the people.
In a communiqué issued at the end of its emergency meeting in Owerri, Imo State, SEPA frowned at the destructive politics being unleashed on the people of Anambra State by Uba, adding, "we thought that Uba would have purged himself of the garrison politics of the past which he copied from the last regime," SEPA in a statement signed by its Chairman, Chief Chris Nwachukwu expressed regrets that Uba could still have the"audacity to meddle in Anambra politics after the Ngige saga where he sent thugs to destroy public property."
The group said instead of being a nuisance to PDP, Uba should form his own political party, select his candidate and then test his popularity by facing the Anambra electorate.
It also expressed satisfaction with the emergence of Prof. Chukwuma Soludo as PDP candidate and Dr Chris Ngige as AC standard bearer for next year's governorship election, describing them as worthy Igbo sons who have the capacity to deliver.
"Soludo and Ngige are men of impeccable character. They are educated and have a pedigree. Anambra should not be infested with political thugs whose only claim to fame is their ill-gotten wealth," SEPA noted.
It called on the people to choose between Soludo and Ngige, "as any of them was capable of returning sanity to Anambra State and offer the people quality governance.
"Our advise to Ndigbo whether in Anambra or elsewhere is that they should go for their first 11. Time has come for us to reject the politics of brawn as epitomised by Chris Uba and his co-travelers," SEPA noted.
