Lagos — Self-acclaimed godfather of Anambra State politics and member, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BOT), Chief Chris Uba, has petitioned the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Ogbonna Onovo, over alleged threat to his life by suspected supporters of former governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Prof. Chukwuma Soludo.
Also yesterday, Uba denied media reports that his invitation by the Anambra State Police command on Monday was sequel to the yet-to-be uncovered kidnap of Pa Simeon Soludo, father of ex-CBN governor.
Instead, his invitation, Uba said, was as a result of the rally held by the Anambra State chapter of the PDP in protest against Soludo as the party's governorship flag-bearer in the state ahead of the February 6, 2010 governorship election.
In a petition by his lawyers- Chuma Oguejiofor and Co, dated November 3 and signed by E. Onyibor, Uba said the latest dimension to the situation in Anambra State has become worrisome because his life is now on the line with anonymous calls, threatening him to back down on his opposition to Soludo.
"Now, the more dangerous dimension is that lately, in fact, within the past few days, our client has been inundated with calls from anonymous persons, threatening death on him unless he drops his opposition to the Soludo candidature immediately."father's kidnap.
