Nigeria: Kill Robbery Suspects Promptly - Arisekola

Abuja — The controversial Islamic Cleric and Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Alhaji Azeez Arisekola, has advised security agents to shoot robbery suspects caught with guns and ammunition immediately they are apprehended.

Arisekola gave the advice in Ibadan on Tuesday while fielding questions from reporters after the launch of activities of police for "ember " month operations.

The business man, who was the chief launcher, pointed out that the protocols usually followed during the trial of robbery suspects have led to the escape of many of them from justice.

Pledging to assist the Oyo State Police Command with five crime patrol vans, Arisekola pleaded with all stakeholders to co-operate with the police in combating crimes in the society, adding that police should be assisted with money.

He also promised to assist the police in the building of a barrack for the MOPOL.

The governor, represented by the Special Adviser on Security, Mrs.Comfort Alebiosu, reiterated the commitment of the present administration to the security of lives and properties in the state, adding that no effort would be spared to send criminals away from the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adisa Baba Bolanta, commended the people of the state and the government for co-operating with the state police command.

"The result is that Oyo State Police Command and the entire Nigeria Police Force are becoming more friendly , responsive and accommodating when discharging their responsibilities to members of the public", he observed.

He called on members of the public to change their negative attitude and perception of the police and become more friendly in their day to day interactions with them at different levels.

Top and influential members of the public like Chief Niyi Akintola,SAN, Engr. Femi Babalola,, Prof. Soji Adejumo and others donated generously to the launch where the police demonstrated their preparedness for the ember month through parade, drilling and other routine activities.
