Freetown — The Sierra Leone national team, Leone Stars would now face Senegal in the second rounds of the Africa home base championship, CHAN.
The team qualified to the next stage of the competition without kicking a ball after Mauritian withdrawn from the tournament.
Leone Stars were expected to face the Mauritanians latter this month in the first league preliminary encounter in Mauritian but their withdrawal have move the team a step forward.
According to the Sierra Leone Football Association, SLFA public relations officer, Sorie Ibrahim Sesay, they receive a letter from their Mauritanian counterparts earlier this week pulling out of the game. The match had been scheduled for the end of November.
The Preliminary rounds are played on a regional basis from the end of 2009 and throughout 2010 and the tournament itself takes place in Sudan in early 2011.
He maintained that the news would help the technical team to scout for more home base players as the national league was ongoing.
