The CPDM should pass on the offensive during celebrations of the 27th anniversary of Paul Biya's accession to power.

Militants and supporters of the ruling Cameroon People's Democratic Movement (CPDM) are fully mobilized to celebrate the 27th anniversary of President Paul Biya's accession to power on November 6, 1982. Under the theme "Building the future with Paul Biya" the party intends to adopt a proactive posture for this year's celebrations. Presiding at a meeting in Yaounde on Tuesday November 3, René Sadi, Secretary General of the CPDM Central Committee called on militants to go out for celebrations with an offensive spirit to counter the recent smear campaigns being carried out by detractors against party chairman, Paul Biya. He said the party cannot continue to defend itself instead f passing on the attack.

The meeting was attended by top party officials notably members of the central coordination committees, leaders of the delegations going to the field as well as chargé des missions.

It was noted that the outing this time should also serve in preparing the grounds for the 2011 presidential election. The militants should massively mobilize around President Paul Biya to counter those involved in attempts to tarnish the image of the party leader.

Mr René Sadi appealed to members of delegations to work in collaboration with party officials at the grassroots and avoid creating conflict and rivalry. This is the moment for the party to be seen as united and strong, he said. Decisions must be reached through a consensus and not handed down by individuals. He called for them to be vigilant against the resurfacing of new attacks and to ensure that there is coherence within party ranges. The Secretary General called on the members of the delegations to be veritable marketing agents of image building for the party leader.

Mr René Sadi reminded members to prepare detailed reports of their activities on the field and hand in to the coordination within seven days after the end of the mission.
