Construction work is expected to start soon.
The MP who is also a minister in the Prime Minister's Office - Policy and Good Governance said the project was part of cultural cooperation between China and Tanzania. Many Tanzanian athletes will participate in marathon and cross-country run in China in 2012.
Marmo said the centre would also attract international figures in athletics thereby making our local youth attain experience in modern sports.
The centre to be based at Hhaylotto village, south of Mubulu town will also give employment to the local youth in and around the area.
