Arusha — Olyset Challenger Cricket Trophy currently being played at the TGT/FRC ground saw AMMA, Kilimeru and Annadil win their round robin league games on Sunday, October 25. This is the first time, three games have been played in one day.
In the early morning game, AMMA scored 134 for the loss of 8 wickets in their 20 overs. Stanley was their top scorer with 29 runs. Young Mayur took 3 wickets for 23 runs, while Muzammil assisted with 2 wickets for 24. Batting next, Swamibapa managed 117 runs for 7 in their 20 overs giving AMMA a 17 runs win. Joseph, Biju, and Rajest were the wicket taker with 3, 2, 2 wickets respectively.
In the mid day game, Expatriates started off with a flier as Iqbal's 51 runs saw then at 80 for 1 in 11 overs, but then Kilimeru's bowlers and fielders put on the brakes to restrict them to a total of 121 in 20 overs. Hussein Kermali and Javed Bhalloo were Kilimeru's strike bowlers with 3 for 13 and 3 for 11 respectively. Needing 6 runs an over, Kilimeru batsmen plodded along and were 48 for 3 in 10 overs. Talib Chagani (44 runs), their skipper, along with Hameed Sheriff (48 runs not out), then went after the bowlers to finish the game for Kilimeru. Kilimeru won by 5 wickets, placing them at the top of their table.
In the late afternoon game, Annadil Ezzi beat the new comers Telugu by 51 runs, to score their first win of the competition. Seifuddin Khanbhai scored well for Annadil, while Hussein Khanbhai, Mukarram and Seifuddin Mohamedali took two wickets a piece to see their team through. Murthy was Telugu's best bowler with 3 for 33 in his 4 overs.
Two games are scheduled for Sunday, November 1. A TO Z take Swamibapa at 9.30am, while Expatriate will play Telugu in the afternoon.
