Uganda: Church Should Use Technology - Bishop

John Semakula

5 November 2009

Kampala — MITYANA Diocese Bishop Stephen Kazimba has advised church leaders to use technology to spread the gospel.

Kazimba noted that the church had failed to reach the people because the clergy have shunned technology.

There are many changes which have made the use of technology in spreading the gospel a necessity, Kazimba noted, citing the increase in population as one of the challenges.

Kazimba made the remarks on Friday during the commissioning of the Words of Hope Communications House at the Uganda Christian University (UCU) in Mukono.

He said the use of radios was one of the ways the church can reach a bigger number of people. Kazimba expressed concern that the Church of Uganda had not yet acquired a radio station.

Kazimba, whose diocese covers three districts of Kiboga, Mityana and Mubende, said he was able to reach out to Christians in his diocese using radio stations in the diocese.

The sh380m three-storied house will act as a focal point for spreading the gospel and training communication students at the university.
