Kampala — KIU coach Nimrod Kaboha has revealed his troops are ready to disprove those who predicted D'Mark Power would blow them away in their best-of-five MTN-FUBA semi-final playoffs.
The two sides meet today at YMCA for Game 3 and the tactician believes the fact that KIU were able to level the series after their humiliating loss in the first game is a sign they are not to be underestimated.
"These are two equally-matched teams and you cannot just predict who is going to win," Kaboha said.
For Kaboha, it makes little difference that Power are the reigning national men's champions or that they strolled through the regular-season -losing just once in 18 games. All that matters is taking one's chances and Kaboha is determined his team will do just that.
He explained: "We are in the playoffs and now it's a very different scenario. Regular season is very different from the playoffs."
Meanwhile, Jude Ochen sunk a three-pointer at the buzzer to give the Kyambogo Warriors a 73-71 victory over the Mountain Dew Falcons in Game 2 of the other semifinal series.
Ochen's last-ditch heroics, the most crucial part of his 13 points on the night, gave the Warriors a 2-0 series lead and left Steven Omony, who scored a game-high 25 points, and the Falcons staring at elimination. Warriors will be in the final if they win the next game.
In the women top division, A1 Challenge took a 2-0 series lead against defending champions, the UCU Canons, with a 62-57 win.
